According to data from FinTech Global Research, the United States, the United Kingdom, and India are the global leaders in fintech for Q2 2026. This quarter was especially profitable, reporting 1,220 deals worth a combined $30.9 billion. Year-on-year, this represents a 34% increase, as well as a 56% spike from $19.8 billion in Q1.
But while fintech has remained profitable globally, its fortunes are not divided equally among all the countries around the world. And while some have held on to their positions in the rankings, others have seen significant shifts.
How They Came Out on Top
As per the study, the US secured the lion’s share of the global fintech markets, with 610 deals and 47% of all transactions during the quarter. It also reported a 12% increase in year-on-year deals. It is worth noting that the closest competitor to the US is the ‘rest of the world’ with about 37% of transactions.
When it comes to individual countries, the United Kingdom comes in second with 7% of the market share. This is represented by 84 deals in Q2 2026, a 10% decline from 2025, which saw the country report 93 deals. But while the US and UK retained their positions as numberS 1 and 2 respectively, the third spot saw a bit of an upset.
Back in Q2 2025, Canada held the third position with 42 deals and a 4% share of the global market. Now, India occupies that spot with 65 deals and a 5% share of global transactions in the space.
India has been well-represented in many tech-focused global rankings and thanks to a combination of a healthy population and a growing number of tech companies, it stands tall among other world powers.
The Complexity of Fintech
While global transaction value was up in Q2 2026, the actual number of deals actually went down. Compared to the 1,285 deals in Q1, the 1,220 recorded in Q2 was a decline of 5%. All the same, the fintech market has, collectively, more capital to work with than before and this could see some interesting developments ahead.
For example, we’re seeing more deployment of AI in various fintech businesses, such as Faye, which recently raised $50 million in funding. We can only hope that Q3 and beyond continue to bring increased growth to the sector, regardless of which countries come out on top.
